Be good and not great
I've learned a lot from what happened yesterday. One of the most important things is the idea of I don't need to always be the best at everything. Sometimes, just being good has already enough to bring you somewhere. Good grade, and not great (you know the difference right?) has enough for graduation.
Okay, let's talk about the difference between good and great/best/perfect. We already know what great is, right? It's when you are unbeatable, at the top notch, and so on. But what is good? If the best is 100, than good is 80. It's the least tolerable score in any school.
But what does all that shit really mean? Was I just yapping about nonsense?
It's pretty hard for me to explain, but please hear me out. I'm going to point out what I said in the first paragraph: you don't need to be great, just being good is already enough.
Okay, let's put context here. Like I said, in academic, get an A at every subject is great, but is it even possible? Oh come on, let's not talk the bullshit here. Sometimes getting B or C is just enough.
Another thing is, you don't need to be the greatest person alive so people would respect you and be friends with you forever. Let's ask 10 person you know, do they care so much about you and your achievement? Most of them would say 'No'. Because that's what we are. It doesn't mean that we are bad person or evil. It does mean that we care so much about ourselves than everyone else in this world. It's just how the world works, human nature.
So, you don't need to be great, just be good. Treat them good. Praise them maybe, but not too much. Show them that you care to them, but don't mind if they don't. In short, act like you want them to treat you. Treat them as human. Everyone, no matter what their gender are. That's already enough.
Okay, like any rules in this world, they always have an exception. So does this one. You don't have to be great just be good. But it is really necessary to be great at least at one thing. A singer is being a singer because they are great at singing, so people would pay. But aren't they also good at cooking at home. Maybe they are. But just good, and not great. That's the difference!
Be great at something you care so much, and be good at the rest of things!
