A Conversation Doesn't Have to be Smart
This a quote I got from the book How to Deal with People by Les Giblin. The idea is simple: sometimes we overthink too much to start a conversation with anyone, the author here remind you that to start a conversation you can say anything, no matter how silly it was, it doesn't have to always be smart.
This is true. When we lower the expectation, it makes anything easier. In context of conversation, I can say 'hi' or 'how are you?' and that's enough. Sometimes if I got a good answer I will prolong it, but if I didn't, that's okay. I will still go with a smile on my face.
The conversation might not go into a deep talk or that simple 'hi' won't enough for us to be a good friend. But who cares? Now I could be careless about it. It takes two to play tanggo. To make a good conversation going, it takes two people willingness to contribute. So, as I said, if that simple 'hi' get a good answer, I might continue the conversation. And who knows, it might lead to be a bestie talk. But if it doesn't, I don't mind either.
