Say no
In this world, sometimes I feel like I'm afraid of missing out something. From something trendy, to newest happening things. Maybe it's not just me. Maybe this is what most of us do. We are fearing of missing out something.
That's why, to avoid that fear, I always say yes to almost every invitation. Sometimes, it leads to good. Sometimes it doesn't. So what we can learn from this? To say no to every invitation? I don't think that a wise choice. Except you want to live like a monk, well perhaps.
Moderation is key. It always is. It means we need to know which invitation could lead to our goods, which doesn't. This also means knowing which invitation aligns with our values, which just garbage.
Some invitation could lead to a good and memorable experience. But when my money was tight, of course I declined the invitation. I would rather missed a good and memorable experience than force something out of my way. Same thing works when my friends invited me to go to hangout. I like hangout with them, also I always learn something new during our conversation. But I will say no, if they asked me to hangout too late, or they smoke. Those two things aren't in my value list.
The key is to know when to say no. Not every "will you" need a "I will" as an answer.
