Advice
I just finished watch a YouTube reels from someone interviewing Willem Dafoe. The guy with the camera, who seemed to be unrealized the one he's interviewing with asked, "So, you are an actor? Would you give some advices, I'm starting that job?". Willem answered it with, "I don't do advice, I think everyone has to enjoy the process."
That simple sentence has stuck in my head ever since. I don't do advice, enjoy the process.
Yesterday, as you might already knew, I wrote two articles about mental health. Specifically about how we deal with our emotions. And this one might still related with those. I mean, sometimes we asked for an advice not because we needed it, but mostly because we were scared of what we're gonna face in front. Just take this guy with camera. He's just starting actor. So many things this guy doesn't know in the future. So he asked someone who has more experiences. In this case, Willem Dafoe. But Dafoe knows it very well that his advices won't help that guy so much. He needs to learn to face the struggle himself. In simple terms, he needs to stop avoid pain and start to feel it. Feel the pain. That exactly what we just talked yesterday.
